Following a “vandalism” incident that occurred late Friday night, the Township Theatre in Township of Washington has announced that all minors wishing to see the newly released “A Minecraft Movie” must be accompanied by a parent or “responsible adult.”
This decision comes in response to the actions of a “large group of unsupervised boys,” the management team wrote on Facebook, who “engaged in completely unacceptable behavior, including vandalism.”
According to the staff, “multiple complaints from other moviegoers who were trying to enjoy the film with their families” were received.
Facebook users with relation to the minors explain that the boys found lotion in the theater, and sprayed it on the seats in front of them. Whether or not the action was intentional is unclear, as management was unable to be reached for comment Sunday.
In addition to the lotion, the teens were said to have been “yelling out” during the film.
The boys were “believed to be from Waldwick,” the management wrote.
Moving forward, the Township Theatre will “not admit” any unaccompanied “groups of boys” to “A Minecraft Movie,” and encourages parents whose son(s) were at the venue during Friday’s incident to “have a conversation with [them] about [their] behavior.”
With these new guidelines in place, the theatre staff hopes to “maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all guests.”
