Shelby County Health Department sets date for public hearing on xAI's use of gas turbines


A public hearing date is set for xAI and the company’s continued gas turbine use in South Memphis.

On Tuesday, the Shelby County Health Department posted a public notice for an in-person meeting regarding an operations permit for 15 natural gas turbines at the xAI facility at 3231 Paul R. Lowry Road in South Memphis.

The public meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Fairley High School, 4950 Fairley Road.

In January, CTC Property LLC, an affiliate of xAI, applied for an operating permit for the permanent use of 15 natural gas turbines at its Paul R. Lowry Road facility. On March 31, the Shelby County Commission approved a resolution calling for a public hearing regarding xAI’s permit application.
