Pantone\'s Color of the Year 2025 is Mocha Mousse

Pantone announced the 2025 Color of the Year—and it’s Mocha Mousse, a “warming rich brown hue.” It is officially identified as PANTONE 17-1230.

The Instagram post embedded below states:

“An evocative soft brown that transports our senses into the pleasure and deliciousness it inspires…”

“Mocha Mouse nurtures with its suggestion of the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate and coffee, appealing to our desire for comfort.”

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute, comments, “For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.”

The design community will no doubt love the versatility of the earthy hue. Mocha Mousse can stand alone—or can enhance a wide range of palettes and applications, “from minimalist to richly detailed designs across all color-focused industries,” the company states.

The beautiful color palettes Pantone features on its site makes us think of all the possibilities for makeup, see an example in the photo above. Ipsy already signed on for a collab.
