Esports data infrastructure platform Grid plans to launch the Rainbow Six Siege Data Portal in the coming weeks. The R6DP will automatically provide esports match data to professional teams competing in the Blast R6 esports ecosystem. Access will start in the coming weeks during Stage 1 of the R6 2024 Season, which leads into the upcoming R6 Manchester Major, May 16-26.

Powering data-driven esports
The R6DP will provide professional esports teams access to critical match information to help coaches and players. Rather than individual teams setting up systems to ingest and access in-game data, the R6DP streamlines access across the Rainbow Six Siege competitive ecosystem.
Accurate in-game match data can help teams make smarter decisions when evaluating player performance or analyzing in-game strategies. The R6DP includes an analytics console, downloadable data files, documentation, tutorials and user support.

Grid and R6 esports partnership
The R6DP is part of Grid’s multi-year partnership with Ubisoft as the title’s exclusive esports data platform for Rainbow Six esports. The agreement kicked off in October 2023 where commercial partners first acquired data access for the 2023 Blast R6 Atlanta Major.
Rainbow Six Siege is in the middle of its second Renaissance. While critics and players panned at Rainbow Six Siege at launch in December 2015, Ubisoft revitalized the tactical FPS to a thriving esport. In recent years, the title has experienced a new period of growth, thanks in part to the rise of Jynxzi. Last month, Jynxzi’s co-stream of the Six Invitational in Sâo Paulo set records for both the esport and Jynxzi. The R6 Invitational set a new record of 521,349 peak viewers and Jynxzi became Twitch’s most watched streamer in February for the first time.
Grid has rolled out data portals for other esports, but this is the first time it is working with a developer other than Riot on one. The team launched the Valorant Data Portal (VDP) in 2022 and the League of Legends Data Portal (LDP) in 2023. Riot acquired an equity stake in Grid as a part of a strategic partnership.
Access to data vetted by a trusted third-party provider is vital for a number of key stakeholders. Notably, Grid’s data is a valuable resource to third-party betting providers. This partnership allows Grid to serve as a mediator between game publishers and these end-users.
