Sparks Explode From Power Lines as Francine Makes Landfall

Sparks exploded from power lines in Houma, Louisiana, on Wednesday, September 11, as storm Francine made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane.

Dramatic footage from Neil Davis shows sparks flying and rain lashing as the hurricane hit.

“I did not expect there to be any punch to the storm,” Davis said. “It looked like crap, but I was surprised. What a gradient to be so tame for so long, but then unleash.”

A curfew was in effect for the area on Friday
